This pie is a southern treasure. It’s the South’s version of custard pie, and it is rich and delicious.
It’s a star any time of the year. In summer, serve with whipped cream and fresh fruit. In the colder months just sprinkle the cream topping with nutmeg. It’s perfect for the holidays.
After whipping the eggs, add in the softened butter, flour and sugar until creamy.
Add the liquid ingredients and mix well.
Pour into the prepared crust and sprinkle with nutmeg.
Bake for 40-60 minutes. Check at 40 minutes and check doneness by giggling the pie. Continue cooking for 5 more minutes at a time until done. When the pie is done it will still be slightly jiggly in the center but you can tell that it has set.
Cool for an hour before serving.
Serve with sweetened fresh whipped cream or whipped topping and ENJOY!
