Peel and cut potatoes into cubes. Place in pot and cover with water and 1 Tbsp salt. Bring to a boil. Lower heat, cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Drain water and keep covered until ready to use.
In sauce pan melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic, herbs, cream and goat cheese. Stir until cheese is melted and mixture is heated.
Use potato masher to mash potatoes. Add in cream mixture and mix well.
