Course dinner, easydinner, Lunch, Main Course, Party Food
- 1½ pounds ground beef, 20% fat
- 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp garlic salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 4 slices cheddar cheese, medium to sharp
- 4 large hamburger buns
Toppings
- 1 medium red onion, sliced
- 1 large tomato, sliced
- lettuce leaves
- ketchup
- mayonnaise
Mix the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt and pepper. Divide into 4 equal pieces.
Take one section of meat and split in two. Form a round, thin patty with half of the meat.
Cut a slice of cheese into 4ths. Stack together and place in the center of the meat patty.
Form another patty and place over the cheese. Press and pinch the edges together and then gently push around the edges to form a well-formed burger.
Spray the grill with cooking spray and heat to medium heat. Place the burgers on the heated grill and cover and cook for 4 minutes.
Gently flip burgers. Use a sharp knife to form a vent hole in the top of each burger as it finishes cooking. Cook for another 4-5 minutes.
NOTE: these can also be cooked in an iron skillet or other heavy skillet.
Place on buns and serve with toppings.
