Ingredients

  • 1 pound sausage **I used turkey "sweet Italian sausage"
  • ½ cup cheddar cheese, grated
  • 2 tsp ground thyme
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 sheet puff pastry **thawed to room temperature

Instructions

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking sheet.
  • Place the sausage in a bowl and add the cheese, thyme and salt & pepper. Mix well. Set aside.
  • Sprinkle flour on a flat surface and top with puff pastry sheet. Sprinkle a little more flour on top to prevent sticking.
Use a rolling pin to roll quite thin...about 10 x 19". Use a butter knife and slice down the middle lengthwise.
  • Spoon half of the sausage mixture down one long side about 1" from the edge. Life the other long side of the puff pastry over the sausage to make a long roll. Crimp the raw edge with a fork and lift the roll onto the baking sheet, crimped edge down.
  • Whisk 1 egg and brush all over both rolls.
Cut the rolls into about 1½" pieces and spread evenly on baking sheet.
Chill for 15 minutes. (This will make the pastry extra flaky!)
  • Preheat oven to 400°.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden. Serve hot with your favorite dip!
