Ingredients
1poundsausage **I used turkey "sweet Italian sausage"
½cupcheddar cheese, grated
2tspground thyme
¼tspsalt
¼tspblack pepper
1sheetpuff pastry**thawed to room temperature
Instructions
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking sheet.
Place the sausage in a bowl and add the cheese, thyme and salt & pepper. Mix well. Set aside.
Sprinkle flour on a flat surface and top with puff pastry sheet. Sprinkle a little more flour on top to prevent sticking.Use a rolling pin to roll quite thin...about 10 x 19". Use a butter knife and slice down the middle lengthwise.
Spoon half of the sausage mixture down one long side about 1" from the edge. Life the other long side of the puff pastry over the sausage to make a long roll. Crimp the raw edge with a fork and lift the roll onto the baking sheet, crimped edge down.
Whisk 1 egg and brush all over both rolls. Cut the rolls into about 1½" pieces and spread evenly on baking sheet.Chill for 15 minutes. (This will make the pastry extra flaky!)
Preheat oven to 400°.
Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden. Serve hot with your favorite dip!
