The Brits know what they are doing with SAUSAGE ROLLS! What a delightfully perfect appetizer! They are easy-peasy to throw together for any party or gathering. PERFECT!
I use turkey sausage (sweet Italian) and it works great and isn’t overly greasy.
Add in some thyme, grated cheese and S&P. Mix it up and set aside.
Roll out the thawed sheet of puff pastry and then just slice it down the middles.
Spoon half of the sausage mixture down the side and pull the puff pastry over the top and crimp together.
Brush with an eggs, cut into pieces and then be sure and chill for 15 minutes to make the pastry extra flaky!
Bake them to perfect goldeness!
Serve hot with your favorite dip!

Sausage Rolls

Ingredients
- 1 pound sausage **I used turkey "sweet Italian sausage"
- ½ cup cheddar cheese, grated
- 2 tsp ground thyme
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 1 sheet puff pastry **thawed to room temperature
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking sheet.
- Place the sausage in a bowl and add the cheese, thyme and salt & pepper. Mix well. Set aside.
- Sprinkle flour on a flat surface and top with puff pastry sheet. Sprinkle a little more flour on top to prevent sticking.Use a rolling pin to roll quite thin...about 10 x 19". Use a butter knife and slice down the middle lengthwise.
- Spoon half of the sausage mixture down one long side about 1" from the edge. Life the other long side of the puff pastry over the sausage to make a long roll. Crimp the raw edge with a fork and lift the roll onto the baking sheet, crimped edge down.
- Whisk 1 egg and brush all over both rolls. Cut the rolls into about 1½" pieces and spread evenly on baking sheet.Chill for 15 minutes. (This will make the pastry extra flaky!)
- Preheat oven to 400°.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden. Serve hot with your favorite dip!
